Rick Beck

Management Consultant

Having been involved in Manufacturing since his graduation from “Mechanical Production Technology” at Sheridan College, Rick entered the Automotive Tier 1 and Aftermarket sectors first as a Quality Supervisor graduating to a Quality Engineer and ultimately into the role of Quality Manager. Today, as an OACETT-Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), Rick has held various Corporate Quality and Management positions including Director of Quality Systems and Plant Manager respectively, covering a wide range of industries including: Automotive Tier-1 Stamping; Truck and Car Tier 1 and 2 Interior Systems Manufacture/Integration; Plastic and Rubber Moulding; Sporting Goods Manufacturing and Agricultural Metal / Welding / Drivetrain Operations.

Paul Spatafora

Management Consultant

Quality Auditor

Paul has been working in the Quality field since 1982 and has held every possible position within the Quality Discipline. Throughout his career, Paul has been responsible for the full development and deployment of Quality Management Systems in the plastics, ink making and metal stamping industries.

In 1984, Paul was hired by the Fry Copy System to revamp their Quality System to ensure that there was complete traceability throughout the organization. Within one year, the system was documented and in place and actively serving the company. Spanning 1985 – 1993, Paul worked as a Quality Coordinator, Quality Engineer, and Quality Supervisor within the plastics and metal stamping industries gaining valuable hands on experience. In addition to his manufacturing experience, Paul acquired knowledge of metal finishing by working at a heat-treating facility which also did zinc dichromate plating and phosphate and oil.

While working in manufacturing, Paul was responsible for Supplier Development and Liaison. This included organizations that performed chrome plating to steel mills that in turn provided the coiled steel for stampings.

From 1994 – 2009, Paul worked at Cam Tool & Die as the Quality Manger and the TS-16949 Manager responsible for implementing and overseeing the Quality Management System covering three facilities.

Paul Graduated from Humber College in 1982 with an Electromechanical Engineering Diploma and in 1986 he received his Quality Certificate from Ryerson University. During his career, Paul acquired theoretical and practical knowledge in the following automotive disciplines: APQP, FMEA, MSA, Internal Audits, Continuous Improvement, and Quality Management Systems (QS 9000, ISO 9001, and TS 16949).

Paul successfully completed the ISO 9001 Competency Based Lead Auditor course in March 2013 (RABQSA Certification No. TL810) and transitioned to ISO 9001:2015 in February 2018 (Certificate: 2018-EGC-9001C-3383).

In addition to implementing Quality Management Systems, Paul has a strong background in the technical areas of Quality. He is fully conversant in blueprint reading, GD&T and specification writing. Other areas of knowledge include, plating, heat treating and both injection and blow mold plastics. Paul has working knowledge of most of the measuring equipment utilized in manufacturing such as CMM, hardness testing, plating thickness, and all hand measuring devices.

Paul brings 25 years of Quality knowledge in both the Automotive and Non-Automotive industries with the focus on creating and deploying Quality Management Systems in diverse fields.

Albert Clarke

Management Consultant

Automotive Auditor

As a Red Seal Tool & Die Maker, Albert’s extensive manufacturing expertise extends to building robotics welding equipment, drill jigs, checking gauges, tooling and machine design, fabricated metal products, railcars, and lubricants.  He is equally at home in a job-shop as he is in a high-volume Tier 1 Automotive Supplier.

Albert’s work experience in Automotive has provided hands-on experience both with parts suppliers and bulk providers.  This established his unique perspective and a well-rounded understanding of how the Automotive Quality Management System’s requirements within IATF 16949 and the Core Tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC apply in either circumstance.

In addition to his expertise related to Quality Management Systems, Albert has held key roles in implementing and maintaining both Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems.

Albert’s auditing credentials include ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor; ISO 14001:2016 Lead Auditor, OHSAS 18001:2007 Lead Auditor, Integrated Management Systems Internal Auditing and IATF 16949:2016 Internal Auditor including Automotive Core Tools both for Practitioners and for Auditors.

Albert finished his career with Shell Canada as the recipient of the L& I Performance Excellence Award and plans to be of service to his clients by bring his technical acumen, his likability, and his extensive practical experience as a contributor to their success.

Lari Dakin

Senior Management Consultant

Expert OHS&E Auditor

Lari has extensive environmental and safety experience spanning 30 years, including twenty years in management systems within the manufacturing, utilities, chemical, waste management and public sectors. He has previously fulfilled environmental, health & safety and quality duties within the plastics, chemical and automotive industries, regional and provincial government, and on-site environmental services companies. He has provided several employers/clients with the development and presentation of quality, health, safety and environmental training programs, including OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Lead/Internal Auditor training, WHMIS, Confined Space Entry, Respiratory Protection, Site Safety, Environmental Awareness & Due Diligence, Chemical Handling and Emergency Response.

As an IRCA Registered Lead Auditor for Quality and Environment; one of the first Certified Environmental Auditors within Canada under the ECO Canada Certifications and one of the first Certified Health & Safety Management Systems Auditors in Canada under the Auditing Association of Canada (AAC), Lari is at the top of the Management Systems industry as one of its most qualified Auditors. Having worked at the world’s largest Certification Bodies for over 15 years, he has conducted several hundred registration and surveillance audits of a wide spectrum of organizations, covering a large variety of industries, all to various management system requirements.

In addition to his auditing credentials, Lari is a Professional/Chartered Chemist with the Association of the Chemical Profession of Ontario and a Certified Training Specialist with Langevin Learning Services

Lari provides hands on direction and coaching services to clients in the quality, environmental and safety fields and has directed numerous clients through the implementation of management systems to International Standards. He has also developed and implemented management systems (including a national award-winning environmental management system) and internal auditing programs for a variety of clients and employers to assist them in achieving and demonstrating conformance to management system requirements. Lari specializes in the optimization of existing management systems, to increase efficiency and effectiveness; and waste management systems to reduce costs and environmental effects. He develops and provides training in management systems, conducts health, safety and environmental legal compliance audits and provides assistance to organizations for legally required government reporting.

Lari has been directly responsible for waste minimization/diversion programs and waste/scrap product and customer development. He has held Supervisory and Management positions in several companies and has had experience in landscaping and grounds/lawn maintenance, including chemical application.

Lari holds a Bachelor of Chemistry from the University of Western Ontario, a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety from Conestoga College and a Diploma in Legal Office Administration from Fanshawe College.

Rob Morris

Senior Management Consultant (Construction)

With more than 30 years in Senior Management in the construction industry, Rob has held positions such as Project Director, Construction Manager and Regional General Manager in the UK, Canada and the Middle East. Rob moved back to Canada in 2017 and now operates as a Senior Consultant and Advisor for The ISO Edge supporting our expansion in the Construction Industry. He is the newly appointed Chair of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Canada, Ontario Area.

He spent 12 years working in the UK for an International Contractor, then 15 years working in Canada for an established multidisciplinary Consulting firm prior to joining a Swiss-owned Global Inspection, Testing and Certification Business based in Toronto. To further his career, he moved to the UAE / KSA in the Middle East for 12 years working for a Specialist Materials organization and Project Management Consultancy respectively.

Rob is a European Engineer (Eur. Ing.), a Chartered Civil Engineer (B.Sc. Hons. C. Eng. MICE) and a Professional Engineer in Ontario, Canada (P.Eng.). He has a diverse portfolio of experience working for Contractors, Consultants, and Specialist Materials Consultants. His Experience has included Infrastructure (Rail, Roads, Bridges, Airports and Ports), Energy (Nuclear Power, Waste Management and District Cooling), Oil and Gas (Upstream and Downstream), Public Health (Water and Sewage Treatment), Mixed Use Developments (Residential, Commercial and Retail Shopping Centres), Hospitality (Hotels, Resorts and Conference Centres).

His diversified experience has been focused on 5 main areas: Engineering (Technical and Management), Quality Systems (Management, Consultancy, Implementation and Certification), International Trade (Global procurement, Logistics, Contract Compliance & Quality), and in Business Development, where he has specialized experience in Organic and Inorganic Growth. This has included strategies for Geographically and Services Diversification, Strategic Alliances, Joint Ventures and Acquisitions.

During his career he has worked with Owners and Developers, Public Sector Government Departments, Private Companies and Organizations, Multidisciplinary Design Consulting Companies, Specialist Consulting Organizations, Multidisciplinary Contractors and Sub-Contractors, Quality Management Companies, Major Suppliers & Inspection and Testing Organizations.

In his current position he can draw on this experience to position The ISO Edge to expand on its current success and sustainably grow the business, adding value our Clients.

Patrick Lipscombe

Safety Management Consultant

OH&S Auditor

Patrick (Pat) has been working in Occupational Health & Safety training and development for over 25 years. Pat is a recognized Safety Specialist and a recognized Trainer by both the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU) and the Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL). Pat has held both Management and Worker roles with responsibilities including authoring policies and procedures, monitoring and managing Corporate compliance, hosting safety meetings, performing workplace inspections, accident investigation and reporting along with leading the Joint Health & Safety Committee.

When involved in Operations Management, Pat’s responsibilities extended to ensuring that current and new operational productivity efforts met all associated compliance requirements. Pat is exceptionally well versed in Occupational Health & Safety legislation, at both the Provincial and Federal levels (e.g. Canada Labour Code requirements along with numerous CSA Standards).

Having acted as the in-house OH&S/T&D Team Leader for 3 prominent safety providers within Ontario as well as having been a Teacher at a Private Career College; Pat has successfully assisted, advised and delivered training for hundreds of organizations and has a passionate, approachable, comfortable “animated” delivery style that thousands of participants have found easy to follow and helpful in understanding the subject matter.

At the beginning of his OH&S / T&D Career, Pat attended the Tibbett & Britten College of Applied Learning. With extensive involvement in training needs-analysis, design and delivery of training courses, training-needs forecasting and auditing training effectiveness, Pat holds 14 different Train-The-Trainer level certificates, has trained and mentored other Trainers and has delivered programs based on Adult Learning Principles ranging in length from half-day Hazardous Materials courses to 17-week Transportation Management programs. Currently, Pat delivers the Joint Health & Safety Committee and Working at Heights training programs governed by the Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL).

In addition to his Occupational Health & Safety expertise, Pat has also had experience in the design and delivery of Soft-Skills and Total Quality Concept/Total Quality Management (TQC/TQM).

In early 2019, Pat achieved Exemplar Global’s (Provisional) Auditor status for Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems – ISO 45001. He has experience with Company-Specific internal audit processes, the former Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) WorkWell Audit and has conducted several safety-related GAP Audits and Legal Compliance Audits.

Having spent much of his time in the Industrial & Transportation sectors, Pat also has experience in: Surface Mining, Construction, Food Services, Retail/Customer Service, Pharmaceuticals, Hotel-Restaurant/Hospitality Management and Youth/Adult education.

Tania Wood

Office Supervisor/Training Coordinator

Tania’s 30-year career as an Administrative Professional spans a wide range of organizations and experience. She’s worked in fields including manufacturing, distribution, training and education, public service, and charitable endeavours.

She’s worked in both the private and public sectors— big companies and small companies, government agencies, non-profit organizations, colleges and universities.

Across the diverse sectors she’s served, Tania has always found it fascinating to discover new things and learn more, adapting her considerable skills and energy whenever or wherever she’s needed.

Believe Tania when she says she’s enjoyed every single administrative job she’s ever had. She is certainly a “Jackie of all trades” and has heaps of experience with estimates and quotes, accounts payable, and shipping expertise. Most of all, Tania loves spreadsheets, and this has served her and her organizations well!

Office Greeter & Counsellor

A highly valued member of the team, Archie enthusiastically welcomes visitors to the office. He supports all the employees in their work endeavors and consistently enjoys their camaraderie. During his 7-year tenure, his contribution to The ISO Edge has been inestimable. He understands the importance and value of high-calibre training due to his own life experience and accomplishments.

Archie appreciates workplace wellness and to this end, he embraces napping as a healthy practice and models it daily. He conducts routine audits involving food, treats and garbage receptacles, with a constant view to implementation and improvement.
